TT electronics' Secure Power Systems keep the power flowing for Total
TT electronics Secure Power Division, through its UK based subsidiary, Dale Power Solutions, has won a key contract to provide crucial service and maintenance for Total E&P UK Ltd, the Aberdeen based subsidiary of global energy provider TOTAL Group.
In a three-year agreement, Dale and its specialist UPS business unit, Erskine Systems, will service UPS systems on off-shore platforms and Total's terminal at St Fergus, all in Scotland.
Nigel Brice, Divisional Chief Executive of TT electronics Secure Power said, "This contract further consolidates our position in the UK offshore energy market and it will be supported from our new facility in Aberdeen.
It was secured through a demanding tender process, and is testament to the experience and expertise that our UK based Secure Power business provides. We very much hope it is the start of a long term relationship supporting Total's secure power back-up in the years to come."
Dale will be servicing approximately 160 UPS systems on the Alwyn Dunbar and Elgin-Franklin oil/gas platform off the east coast of Scotland as well as the on-shore terminal site at St Fergus.
A dedicated project manager and engineering team have been assigned to service the contract, which will involve Dale working to an agreed maintenance schedule and providing critical technical support and expertise.
Maintaining constant power at energy sites is vital as a power failure can be catastrophic. Loss of power can mean safety is compromised and the installation shut down. In the safety conscious, high revenue energy industry, such situations are clearly unacceptable.
Total E&P UK is the fourth largest operator on the UK Continental Shelf, employing 800 people.
Dale Power Solutions has the experience and expertise to tackle off-shore projects in potentially hostile environments. Personnel involved are all fully trained in survival skills, having undergone rigorous training in lifeboat drill, fire-fighting and helicopter escape.
